Movember

Overview

Movember is the leading global charity dedicated to changing the face of men's health by helping men live happier, healthier, and longer lives. The charity is most famous for its annual campaign in November, where men grow moustaches to raise awareness and funds.

The foundation strategically focuses on the three biggest health issues facing men, which it aims to tackle on a global scale:

  • Mental Health and Suicide Prevention

  • Prostate Cancer

  • Testicular Cancer

Movember provides support by funding innovative, global, and local programs, research, and awareness initiatives.

Mental Health and Suicide Prevention: They fund tools and programs, such as Movember Conversations, to break down stigma, encourage open dialogue, and equip people with the skills to support men who are struggling. They also invest in community-based initiatives to build social connections and mental fitness.

Prostate Cancer: They fund biomedical research and global collaboration (like the Global Action Plan) to accelerate breakthroughs in treatments. They also invest in services (like TrueNTH) to improve the quality of life for men living with and beyond the disease.

Testicular Cancer: They fund research to reduce the long-term, treatment-related side effects and run awareness campaigns (like "Know Thy Nuts") to promote early detection through self-examination.

The charity encourages participation through fundraising challenges, including Grow a Mo, Move for Movember (running/walking 60km for the 60 men lost to suicide every hour), and Host a Mo-ment.

Movember's core ambition is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men's health, driven by the knowledge that men are dying too young from preventable causes.
